My favorite place so far in LA to find inspiration. The gardens are astoundingly lovely, and the art exhibitions are always very interesting.

The Huntington Art Gallery houses includes one of the most distinguished collections of 18th- and 19th-century British paintings, sculpture, and decorative arts outside London, including Thomas Gainsborough’s Blue Boy, Joshua Reynolds’ Sarah Siddons as the Tragic Muse, and John Constable’sView on the Stour near Dedham

hughallwayAs a whole, the home where the art gallery is housed is a classic exercise in the emerging Mediterranean style of early-20th-century Californian architecture. Highlights include a first-floor small library.

Dining Room

The small and large dining rooms  furnished with 18th-century French decorative art objects and British portraits.

A 2,900-square-foot hall displays the Huntingtons’ Grand Manner portraits.  It is now called the Thornton Portrait Gallery.
