The next morning we embarked on an amazing odyssey, our first ever trip to Zion National Park, not too far north of our new friends’ place. We were blown away pretty much from the moment we entered the road to the park, beholding the beautiful, orange-ish mountains and babbling river, both enhanced by the contrast of pale green budding leaves on the trees. It was breathtaking. 
Wanting to get some exercise, we hiked the Emerald Pool Trail, which took us up a mountainside, past a great rock basin with a small waterfall cascading over it, a gorgeous sight and cool, refreshing spot.
The trail continued steeply upwards to another gorge with a small pool at the bottom. I was exhausted and needed to rest. Jonathan prowled about and found a canyon tree frog, crouching in shallow water, and this was exciting to him.
Angel’s Landing is at Zion is the most stunning viewpoints I have will ever experienced. I would not not recommended for anybody with a fear of heights. The trail follows the narrow spine to the final viewpoint roughly 1500 feet above the canyon floor.
Tired but satisfied we came back down in to the valley, then drove on through the park, through long, dark tunnels that penetrated red rocky crags. It was utterly spectacular…we loved it!
The road outside of Zion was amazing as well, but we needed to find a place to stay and eventually arrived in Bryce Canyon City, where we found a hotel on the edge of a small pond. Taking off filthy boots and eating expensive food from the country store nearby, we holed up in the room for the night, wiped out, but delighted by the day.

Wow, that looks like a wonderful place to hike and explore. I love your photographs–they are stunning. I will have to put it on my list of places to go. How old do you think a child would need to be to hike it?
Hi Kristen. We hiked on the Emerald Pond Trail and I think that is suitable for young children. At least we saw a lot that day.
That’s the place I remember best. We had decided to visit it for a few hours- and stayed all day!

WOW, absolutely stunning photos. I am from Arizona and I miss the landscapes that the state presents. Forgive my ignorance but where exactly is Zion National Park?
Thanks Clint! Zion is in the Park is located in the Southwestern corner of Utah, and northwest of the city of Saint George in Washington County. It is amazing. I can’t wait to get back.
